Welcome to John Bear’s Nursery
At John Bear’s Nursery, everything we do is for the benefit of the children to ensure they receive the best possible start to their education within the Aylsham Learning Federation of schools. Our dynamic and adaptable nursery is purpose built with a fantastic outdoor space and is part of John of Gaunt Infant & Nursery School.
We aim to create a happy, safe and secure environment in which children develop a love of learning and their personal, social and emotional needs are met. We encourage children to be independent explorers, nurturing their confidence and individual skills through a curriculum based on their interests and play.
We are delighted to announce that from September 2024 we will be able to accept children from the term after their second birthday.
- John Bear’s Nursery is open from 7.30am until 6.00pm for 50 weeks of the year
- We are able to offer 15 hour and 30 hour funded places for children aged 3 and over

- Breakfast, snacks and tea can be provided
Our recent Ofsted inspection (December 2023) highlighted that ‘children get off to a flying start in the early years, where their interests help to shape the curriculum. The environment is fun and exciting. Pupils love being in the different outdoor spaces, exploring and playing together.’

Open Morning – Saturday 27th April 2024
John Bear’s Nursery would like to invite families and children (aged from birth to 4 years), who are new to our nursery, to a stay and play open morning between 10am and 12noon on Saturday 27th April.
Our open morning offers a great opportunity for you to meet our friendly team of staff, and discover our fantastic resources and outdoor spaces. Plus, you can find out how our child-led approach to learning encourages happy, confident children and will help ensure your child achieves excellent progress in all areas of their development.
