Free school meal information

Dear Parents/Carers
All Children at Infant School Age receive a Universal Free School meal as standard, however if you are in receipt of certain benefits, you can apply for your child to receive Government Funded Free School Meals.  This does not affect the meal that your child receives but it does secure additional funding for schools for your child and also allows you to qualify for Free School Meal Vouchers during school holiday periods when provided.
If your circumstances have changed or change across the academic year, please click on the link below to take you to the application process.
If you have already applied and your child is receiving Government Funded Free school Meals, then you do not need to reapply.
If you are not in receipt of any of the benefits listed below, you do not need to apply and your child will continue to receive a Universal Free School Meal.
In order to qualify for Free school meals and the vouchers you need to be in  receipt of one of the following benefits.
  • Income Support
  • income-based Jobseeker’s Allowance
  • income-related Employment and Support Allowance
  • support under Part VI of the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999
  • the guaranteed element of Pension Credit
  • Child Tax Credit (provided you’re not also entitled to Working Tax Credit and have an annual gross income of no more than £16,190)
  • Working Tax Credit run-on – paid for 4 weeks after you stop qualifying for Working Tax Credit
  • Universal Credit – if you apply on or after 1 April 2018 your household income must be less than £7,400 a year (after tax and not including any benefits you get)
The website below is the place to apply as to whether you qualify for FSM. It is not something that is a decision for me but a decision that sits with the Local Authority. The Local Authority are still manning this and will check eligibility if you apply and then let Mrs Lord or myself know.
