Breakfast and Tea Club

Wraparound Care

We offer high quality wraparound care for children attending our schools including, John Bears Nursery. With reception aged children attending wraparound sessions at John Bears Nursery and pupils in Y1-Y6 attending sessions in our new brand new, purpose-built facility in the mobiles.

All sessions, regardless of age and venue, are designed to be safe, welcoming, and fun. Our spaces are packed with exciting resources for children to enjoy before and after the school day.

Children can take part in a wide range of activities including air hockey, board games, and basketball, or wind down in our cosy reading corners and dedicated chill-out areas. With something for everyone—from active play to quiet time—our wraparound care is the perfect place for children to relax, socialise, and have fun.

Breakfast Club

Our Breakfast Clubs are a thriving hub of activity, they open from 7:30 am, where qualified and experienced school staff create a welcoming atmosphere for your child.

Here’s what you can expect:

  • Warm Welcome: On arrival, our friendly staff will warmly welcome you and your child, and take any messages you may need to forward to your child’s teacher.
  • Healthy Start: Children will be offered a variety of breakfast options such as Fruit, Cereal, Porridge, Pancakes, Crumpets and more
  • Fun Activities: We have multiple fun resources for children to play with in our new space until they are escorted over to school.

Tea Club

Our Tea Club operates two sessions every school day: 3:15 – 4:30 pm and 4:30 – 6:00 pm. Your child can attend either or both sessions, with charges applicable accordingly.

In Tea Club 1, pupils get the opportunity to play and have a light snack to recharge.

In Tea Club 2, pupils staying on after 4:30pm are provided with a simple tea and have longer to relax and unwind.

Here’s what Tea Club offers:

  • Healthy Snacks: Children are offered a snack of toast or fruit upon arrival at tea club to help energise them after a day of learning
  • Outdoor Activities: We always aim to take the children that wish to outside to burn off some energy
  • Planned Activities: We have introduced a weekly timetable of themed nights to provide entertainment for the children to look forward to

Drop Off & Collection

  • Reception children are dropped off and collected from John Bear’s Nursery
  • Children in Years 1-6 are dropped off and collected from the wraparound care provision in the mobile building. Parents and carers should access the mobiles through the JoG car park gate to reach the mobiles

We ask that all pupils are accompanied by an adult to the door of their provisions (rather than being dropped off from a car in the car park or from the street) and received by a member of the Breakfast Club team.

Until the child is handed over to us in person, we are unable to take responsibility for their safety and welfare.

In person hand over helps to keep the child safe and is also vital for communication between parents/carers and staff.

We encourage all parents and carers to collect their children from the Tea Club. If a parent or carer would like their child to walk home alone from Tea Club – permission must be given to the school in written form before this will be permitted (depending on the age of the child).

Booking and Payment

Advance Booking: Both Breakfast and Tea Club places must be booked 24 hours before they are required to secure a place. Booking is capped at a maximum of 40 children per session (Y1-Y6) and places will be on a first come first served basis. If places are not booked, we reserve the right to refuse entry.

Emergency Bookings: We appreciate that there will be times when you might need to make a last minute booking – if you need to do so, please call the school office to confirm your space.

If a child attends Breakfast or Tea Club and they have not been booked in correctly, the family will be sent a reminder. If this happens more than once, the child will not be able to access the provision and will be treated as a child who has arrived early for school and will be asked to wait in reception until school starts or they are collected by their adult. Following a final reminder, the child/family will no longer be able to use Breakfast and Tea Club services going forward.
